Days of ceramic art and clay || from 19.09.2025 to 21.09.2025 || Central square of Yorgos Seferis

This September, Ayia Napa will host its first Ceramic Art and Clay Days. Organised by the Municipality in collaboration with the Ceramic Potters Association and the Aroma Association, friends of the Ayia Napa Sculpture Park, next month will see a series of events dedicated to ceramics and the traditions of Cypriot ceramics.

From 19th to 21st September, the central square of Ayia Napa will host a series of events dedicated to traditional and modern forms of clay processing. Get ready for three days of exhibitions, lectures, workshops and demonstrations of techniques that promise to bring the fascinating world of ceramics closer to the public.

The official opening of the event will take place on 19th September at 18:00 at the Georgios Seferis Cultural Centre. The events will take place in cultural institutions in Ayia Napa, with a screening taking place on Saturday at the Ayia Napa Municipal Museum “Thalassa”. At 11:00, there will be a screening of Paschalis Papapetrou’s documentary “Cypriot Medieval Glazed Pottery”, followed by a lecture by Dr. Dimitra Papanikola-Bakirtzi on “Byzantine Glazed Pottery: Carving Techniques”.

The square will offer interactive workshops and demonstrations on pottery wheel techniques, large-scale pottery production on the potter’s wheel, live sculpture and raku firing techniques. There will also be special pottery workshops for children and adults, offering hands-on experiences for families.

In addition to artistic practice, the event aims to shed light on ceramics as a utilitarian craft and as a fine art that continues to develop in Cyprus today, bringing together traditional craftsmen and contemporary ceramists.

Festival-goers will also be able to purchase unique works of art and take home ceramics from the Handmade Ceramics Fair, which will run throughout the event and feature works by local artisans.
